UAC/ACT exposes and confronts American textbook
jihad
Important newly exposed details and needed action regarding
Islamic infiltration and indoctrination in American school
textbooks:
Members of the United American Committee (UAC), in cooperation with
members of ACT! for America's Mission Viejo California Chapter, are
researching what America's K-12 history textbooks teach about Islam and
Islamic history. Comprehensive evaluations by the Textbook League
headquartered in Sausalito, CA and the American Textbook Council based in
New York City have independently concluded that America's school children
are being indoctrinated with a sugar-coated portrayal of Islam, Islamic
history and Muhammad which has been sanitized and propagandized through
the
efforts of Islamic activists.
In California and probably all other states children are introduced to
Islam and Islamic history in Grade 7 History & Social Science, and
virtually all U.S.Grade 7 history textbooks contain a 3-4 week unit on
Islam. Basically, our 12 year-olds are being taught that Islam preserved
and increased the world's knowledge of science, art, literature,
philosophy, medicine, and logical thinking throughout Christianity's Dark
Ages; that Islam was spread throughout the Mediterranean world, Middle
East, Asia, India and Indonesia by traders and readily accepted because of
its' doctrines of charity, fidelity, tolerance, goodness and respect for
Allah and his most important and exemplary final prophet, Muhammad.
Islamic
legends, heresay and beliefs are often presented as facts. There is scant
or no mention of piracy, kidnapping, slave-taking, cruel punishments,
persecution, intolerance, treaty-breaking, forced conversions or the
repression of women. Our children are being indoctrinated with a
white-washed view of Islam and Islamic history designed to make any
contradictory evidence they receive later seem suspect or invalid.
Both studies identify the Council on Islamic Education (CIE) as a
principal Muslim activist group which has successfully propagandized U.S.
textbooks. This self-appointed self-annointed "council", which basically
consists of no more than 3-4 Muslims, has effectively lobbied state
Departments of Education and textbook publishers to the point where it
virtually controls what is taught about Islam in our nations public
schools. The CIE also develops supplemental instructional materials which
slip into schools "under the radar" of normal vetting and adoption
processes. The CIE also provides teacher training workshops. Strangely,
this CIE has been housed since 1983 in district facilities of the Fountain
Valley School District, a Southern California K-8 district with about
5,900
students.
Our Textbook Study group is launching a 3-pronged effort to remedy this
situation, as follows:
Task 1: Convince the Fountain Valley School Board to: (a) Expel the
Council on Islamic Education (recently renamed by its founder/director as
the Institute on Religion and Civic Values (IRCV)) from their District
facilities, (b) Bar purchase or use of any CIE supplementary instructional
materials, (c) Forbid CIE from training District teachers, and (d) order
the CIE/IRCV to immediately cease using the District Office address as
their official mailing address.
Task 2: Protest and expose the information being presented to California
school children as inaccurate, subverted, misleading Islamicized
propaganda
to the California Board of Education (BOE), demand restructuring of
California "frameworks" which guide schools and textbook publishers, and
establish procedures which will insure that California adopts only
textbooks which accurately present balanced information containing
truthful
information about Islam and Islamic history. This may well require that
State Education Code Sec. 60044 be revised or eliminated. It currently
reads:
"No instructional materials shall be adopted by any governing board
for use in the schools which, in its determination, contains:
(a) Any matter reflecting adversely upon
persons because of their race, color, creed, national origin, ancestry,
sex, handicap, or occupation.
(b) Any sectarian or denomination doctrine
or propaganda contrary to law.
State Department of Education officials claim this code section makes it
impossible for anything negative or critical to be taught about Islam,
Muslims, or any other religion.
Task 3: Convince U.S. textbook publishers that pressure groups such as the
Council on Islamic Education should not be allowed to rewrite or revise
history, will not be permitted to influence state textbook adoption
committees, and that historical information about all religions shall be
accurate and balanced with beliefs not fully supported by factual evidence
presented only as beliefs and not as facts.
George Santayana famously warned, "Those who fail to learn the lessons of
history are doomed to repeat it". Indeed, we cannot permit history which
is
taught to our children to be rewritten, sanitized or stripped of that
which
is accurate, truthful, and important, merely to avoid offending or
embarrassing any individual or group. To allow this in any form is to open
the door to history's use as propaganda and thus deprive it of its'
usefulness and importance.
Soon we will be providing reports, suggested letters, and contact
information for officials who need to hear from many, many, MANY voices to
bring about needed changes to our textbooks.
We urge you to pass this information to members, parents, acquaintances
and all who might be willing to help in these efforts. More information
will be forthcoming. Those who are particularly interested and willing to
help or contribute to the support of this effort are invited to reply to
